Firefox print to PDF

Why doesn't Firefox have a export as PDF function yet? This is one of the features I use most in OpenOffice. When I need to do it from Firefox on Ubuntu I need to print to Default/Postscript, and save to file, then use ps2pdf from the shell to convert it. However, it just just be a click away!

From KDE System Settings, I can add a new Printer as GENERIC->Postscript Printer but that file is still a PostScript file and not a PDF! The pseudo printer is a simple idea, with PDFCreator and CutePDF being available which acomplish it this way. Will Firefox 3 have this missing feature?

Can't you just use the cups-pdf package? That allows you to print directly to PDF. It seems silly to make every application on your desktop implement their own pdf export code.

That is a good point. I've actually got cups-pdf installed, and KDE Print dialogs all have "Print to File (PDF)".

The problem is it's more conisisten to have PDF export under an "Export" feature, or a quick "Create PDF"/"Save as PDF" button as that is what I as a user would like.

Having to go through a Print dialog to create a PDF file is quite an ironic process for a user to have to follow.

A related example is IE users can save the current page as an MHT file, although this is another firefox firefox bug the Mozilla guys aren't yet resolving (workaround, use MAF extension instead) like the lack of Firefox TIFF support too!

Thanks for your post.
