Jobs for all - Conservatives

The BBC are covering an interesting policy by the Conservatives. Something I have been saying for quite a while, paying someone £60 a week to spend very little time job hunting is a farce. A claimant literally has to write down the newspaper, agency and website they have looked at to prove they have been searching. it would be far better to enrol them in a community work programme for 3 days a week to give them something productive to do with the remainder of their time while they are job hunting.

With most streets suffering from litter and overgrown paths, there is always work available at the local level. If on placement in a community centre that might even open a door to a permanent job!

We all know though that the more people who do this "community" work, the more councils will have cheap accessible labour to work for them for less than the minimum wage. You'll like put more people out of work with this proposal, after-all why pay people a proper wage when you can give the govt peanuts and have some guy on the dole doing it instead.
