Future mobile innovations

I wonder what's going to be big in the next couple of years in the mobile arena? We've had basic phone functionality for some time (see my Sony Ericsson K800i to the right), but it's all still a bit clunky and prone to reception problems when we're on trains etc. I think we're going to see a few things appear over the next few years:
  • Cheap wireless BB, mobile and computer wireless technology / protocols will converge, providing an open platform with much better coverage.
  • Galileo/GPS SatNav and accurate terrain height reading features for mapping.
  • VoIP providers and many new innovative ideas will thrive in this mobile arena, think what the open platform of the Web did for computers and consider how many millions more people have their mobile with them at all times!
That's enough for today ;) Post any ideas in the comments section!

well i can already use mine as a bluetooth handset straight to the computer and then down skype, there's remote monitor, file transfer and so on :)
seems to me bluetooth will end up killing usb as it becomes faster and our mobiles will simply be a small personal extension of our computers, i can already use it to stream music off my computer with as long as im in range.
there's also the matter of range that we have. the first bluetooth was only 10m, now you can get a 100m thing for almost nothing and they have tested dongles that work up to a range of 27 miles although obviously that tech is some way away! take that another step further and you could have full bluetooth reception from anywhere in the uk straight to your computer network. combined with voip and mobile phone networks are dead.
it might not be bluetooth then but itll be a bluetooth like technology. the future's bright. the future's blue?
